Writing Week at KIT

The KIT Graduate School “Cultures of Knowledge“ (CuKnow) is hosting a Writing Week, from 15 to 18 June 2026. This four‑days event creates a dedicated space for scientific writing and collegial exchanges.

Registration is possible until 31 May 2026 via this link.

Programme:

Focused writing time – quiet rooms and comfortable workspaces.

Collegial support – a community of PhDs to share feedback and motivation.

Three expert trainings on 17 June 2026:

  • Session 1, 10:00-11:30 – Techniques for Scientific Writing Master the building blocks of effective academic writing in English: from structuring arguments and crafting precise sentences to navigating the conventions of your discipline. Whether you're new to academic writing in English or looking to sharpen skills you've already begun developing, this session offers practical tools you can apply immediately to your next paper or thesis chapter.
  • Session 2, 12:45 - 14:15 – Ethical Writing and Research with AI AI tools are reshaping how researchers write, read, and think — but how do you use them responsibly in an academic context? In this hands-on session, we'll examine the ethical questions surrounding AI in research and writing, and work together to develop a practical set of guidelines tailored to the realities of PhD-level study.
  • Session 3, 14:30 -16:00 – Organising Your Writing Process Good academic writing is as much about when and how you write as it is about what you say. This session combines strategies for planning and structuring your writing workflow with a dedicated "shut up and write" block — protected, focused writing time to put everything into practice and make real progress on your own work.

Members of the EES Academy will receive 0.5 CPs per full workshop day.
