Workshop Introduction to Research Data Management 2026

Goal

The responsible and far-sighted handling of digital research data is becoming increasingly important. Management, storage, exchange, and access to large amounts of data, including the corresponding metadata, is challenging. At the same time, many funding organizations and research institutes require adherence to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), which demands additional effort and adds complexity to research data management. Thus, good data management turns complexity into opportunity, making your research stronger and more accessible.

In Block 1, participants will learn the essentials of good RDM, including the principles of FAIR data. We will also discuss how the “Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice” published by the DFG support responsible and sustainable handling of research data.

In Block 2, we will show how good research data management and FAIR principles can be applied in practice using the Kadi4Mat infrastructure. Participants will become familiar with the Kadi ecosystem and its key features. Through examples and hands-on exercises, they will deepen their understanding of managing and sharing research data effectively, and learn how to apply Kadi to real-world projects.
